FAQs

  • New York State does not provide enough information on the tag given. The paper or a photo of the paper provides the pets name, breed, and full expiration date. This ensures a safe environment for all clients and their pets.

  • Breeds such as Golden Retrievers, Great Pyrenees, and Labrador Retrievers use their coat as a form of insulation. It is what keeps them cool in the summer and warm in the winter by regulating their temperature. Shaving breeds like this down short can risk exposure to sunburn, heat stroke, hypothermia, alopecia, and it does not stop shedding. it is advised to get a good de-shedding treatment done instead to help reduce shedding.

  • Matting occurs when hair entangles with each other and becomes very knotted. This can be very painful and unhealthy for your pet. When the matting gets to close to the skin the safest course of action is to shave the hair short due to it being difficult to safely tell where the skin is and to prevent injury to the pet. Regular grooming and at home maintenance prevents matting. Pets with coats that are prone to matting should be groomed every 4-6 weeks.

  • Puppies can safely be groomed as early as 8 weeks old. It is encouraged to start them early on to desensitize them to prevent fear of the grooming process. A few introductory grooming sessions are great for puppies before they get an all over haircut so they can get used to the sounds of the dryers and clippers and develop a good routine for the grooming process. This will also prevent new owners from going too long without grooming and to build a good relationship with your groomer so they can advice you for when your pet is ready for a full haircut, and to help any puppies who may need a little extra time getting used to things.
